Apply for your 2017 OSA Traveling Lecturer!

We are accepting requests for 2017 lecturers and encourage you to plan in advance so that you are able to host your first choice of Traveling Lecturers from the OSA Individual Directory (make sure to check the box for 'Traveling Lecturer' when searching).
Every chapter and section is eligible to host one lecturer each year, but funding is limited - submit your Traveling Lecturer Request today!

In special cases, we are still able to accommodate lecturers in 2016. Contact travelinglecturer@osa.org for more information if you have an eligible lecturer that you would like to invite.

Will your chapter host an IONS Conference next year?
Final Application Deadline:
15 November

Does your chapter want to host an IONS? IONS organizers are the most likely to be asked to participate in special volunteer opportunities after graduation. We are still accepting applications for the 2017 International OSA Network of Students (IONS) Conference season. If a member of your chapter has attended an IONS or plans to attend one this year, you can submit an application to host an IONS Conference through the OSA Grants Database.

Deadline Approaching: 2016 Annual Report and Application for a 2017 Management Grant
Mandatory Deadline: 15 November

All chapters and sections are asked to submit an annual report to OSA in order to remain in good standing and eligible for benefits. Don’t wait to start the application; the Funding Request Form that must be submitted with the report requires signatures from the Chapter President, Chapter Treasurer and Chapter Advisor – no exceptions.

We use the report to update your organization's records, including officers and contact information displayed in the Chapter/Section Directory as well as the affiliated members.

This is also an opportunity to request funding for 2017 through a Management Grant. This grant support the routine activities and maintenance of your chapter. The awards available to your chapter are as follows:

  • OSA Student Chapters in Non-SEC countries: maximum of $700 USD
  • OSA Student Chapters in a developing nation: maximum of $500 USD
  • OSA Local Sections: maximum of $800 USD

Access the 2017 Management Grant and 2016 Annual Report through the OSA Grants Database today!

Apply for the 2017 Special Program Grant

Application Deadline: 15 November

The 2017 Special Program Grant (formerly the Centennial Special Events Grant) is now open! The first deadline for applications is 15 November. Submit your application through the OSA Grants Database.

Chapter and sections may apply for ONE Special Program Grant in 2017. This is a highly-competitive grant that provides up to $1,500 USD for funding upcoming youth-education/community outreach or professional development events in 2017 (it cannot be used for passed events).

What to include in your application:

  • Be specific - the more detailed your application, the better the reviewers can envision your event and assess your needs.
  • Make sure the budget is detailed and realistic.
  • Identify more sponsors than just OSA, and show the contributions you will receive from each.
  • Think big! Chapter/Section meetings, social gatherings/parties or visiting just one local school does not count as a special program.
  • Collaborate with other Student Chapters and Local Sections.
  • Consider other OSA programs. Check out all of the Student Chapter/Local Section benefits that you can incorporate into your event.

Applications are reviewed in rounds, (or until grant funding runs out). Following application deadline dates are 15 February 2017, 15 May 2017 and 15 August 2017.
